I was looking for a Mexican place near the office, and found this inexpensive restaurant, with tasty food and a wide selection of entrees. Although I took the food as takeout, when I and the others ate it reheated, it was still delicious. I had the Ropa and the others really loved their enchiladas and Burrito Especiale. And you can't beat the price. I'll be a regular.

Food was your average Mexican. Located in a dive shopping center across the street from the bus depot. About $20 for two people.

A most pleasant meal for a great price (under $10!) And the wait staff checked on my happiness and satisfaction at least six times. The meal of spicy shredded beef, cilantro rice, black beans, corn tortillas, salsa, corn chips, fried plantains and margarita was great. Spicy sauce that was just hot enough to make me pause and check how much water I had left in my glass (answer: plenty), but not so hot that I stopped dipping the tortilla into the salsa. The beef was good and tender and tasty. The corn tortillas were fresh and served hot. The restaurant is small but nicely decorated. (See picture). The waitress tells me that it's packed on DJ night and karaoke night . I plan to return to see in person.

The food here is incredible, great prices you can get a special for 10 dollars for dinner for a full fiesta. You get an entree and a free drink. The ambiance is so relaxing and the food is super authentic. I would recommend anyone who enjoys mexican food to come here it's super delicious. It definitely deserves 5 stars. If you want a fantastic meal, and you don't want to blow a lot of money, this is definitely the spot to be. The service is also phenomenal Marisella and and Jessica are fantastic servers and bartenders.

Food was not fresh, the sangria was bitter, they did not want to honor a coupon they lost when carrying away the plates and they "lost" my credit card. Never coming here again.

I have been coming here for 10 years because they have the BEST carne asada I've ever had. Every time I go I get it and it is always perfectly seasoned and cooked. It's also a huge portion for a great price. The staff is sweet and helpful and the sides and chips are fresh and good. Honestly I don't know how their other dishes are because, even though I look, I always end up ordering the carne asada...and so does everyone else I'm there with. It's that good.

Very large portion of carne asada. I'd have it again but only if I'm in the area. The best customer service. Everyone was very accommodating.

Man were we hoping to love this joint ... we met the owner ... who was very cool and confident ... and we tried her strongest recommendations (tacos) as well as the lomo saltado. Everything was certainly ok ... but nothing will make me slide back over there for a second data point.

Texas Parillada is located in a very rundown and downright ugly little shopping center located directly across from Lakeforest mall. I used to dine in at Texas Parillada quite frequently. My last visit prior to this one had been in 2008 and the experience was quite demoralizing. The waitress didn't speak one word of English, was unable to understand even a simple request ("another sour cream please"). My chimichanga was overcooked. And to top it all off, the waitress took my credit card, walked away with it and disappeared. I had to get up and find her! I swore to never go back. I decided to give TP another shot the other day. The menu is typical Tex-Mex fare (carne asada, quesadillas, burritos, etc.). They bring you some decent tortilla chips with fresh tomato salsa when you sit down. Waitress was prompt to refill my diet coke and bring me more tortilla chips. I ordered the beef chimichanga. Served with a side of rice, refried beans, guacamole and pico de gallo. Everything tasted fresh. The chimichanga (a deep fried burrito) was cooked to perfection. There was real hot sauce on the table (not that weak Louisiana pablum you sometimes find) and the service was prompt and friendly. Texas Parillada has won back a long lost customer. Nice.

This is a small Mexican restaurant in a pretty unattractive strip mall near Lakeforest Mall. However, it's fine if your in the mood for Mexican food. I tried the chicken quesadilla and a steak burrito. They had a couple different categories of burritos (they got fancier) and I'm pretty sure the one I got was super fancy. It had a bean sauce poured over the top and came with all the extra dressings on the side. I would say that it was all pretty standard but a little bit salty. Nothing stood out in a good or bad way, so I'd probably go back. Food was fine, atmosphere was fine, service was fine. The menu actually seemed to offer a lot, so that's a plus. Decent place.

I was travelling to Gaithersburg, MD and in the mood for good, home-cooked Mexican food at a neighborhood place where the ambiance wasn't much, but the service was friendly. Enter Texas Parillada! This was perfect for my jones for a little neighborhood sort of dive-y, but cute, place with a friendly server, and homemade Mexican food, that was filling and delicious! I really enjoyed it. The one downside was the loud dance music. It was Monday and my BF and I were the only customers, so that can be excused. Everything else was great.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
